Tour Plan
Day 01: Arrive Colombo – Drive to Anuradhapura
Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo at 08:20 hrs on EK560, you will be warmly greeted by your local guide.
After a short meet-and-assist, begin your journey northwards to the ancient capital of Anuradhapura (approx. 200 km / 4.5–5 hrs).
The drive will take you through changing scenery – bustling towns gradually giving way to rural landscapes, coconut groves, and paddy fields, offering your first glimpse of Sri Lanka’s countryside.
Lunch at the Lake forest hotel.
After checking in at your hotel and a brief refresh, begin exploring
Anuradhapura, one of the island’s most celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This city, dating back more than 2,000 years, was the first established kingdom of Sri Lanka and remains a center of Buddhist worship.
Your visits today include:
- Sri Maha Bodhi Tree – A direct sapling of the original Bodhi Tree in Bodhgaya, India, under which the Buddha attained Enlightenment. Planted in 288 BC, it is considered the oldest historically documented tree in the world.
- Ruwanwelisaya Dagoba – Built by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century BC, this gleaming white stupa is one of the largest in the world and a symbol of Buddhist devotion.
- Jetavanarama Stupa – Once the tallest stupa in the ancient world, this colossal brick monument still inspires awe with its scale.
- Abhayagiri Monastery Complex – A significant monastic institution of ancient Sri Lanka, which at its peak housed over 5,000 monks.
As you walk among these ruins and sacred sites, your guide will share the legends, architectural details, and stories that shaped this city’s grandeur.

Day 02: Anuradhapura – Jaffna
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and begin your journey northwards to Jaffna (approx. 210 km / 4 hrs.)
The drive offers fascinating glimpses of Sri Lanka’s changing landscape – passing paddy fields, small villages, and stretches of dry-zone forest. This road, once closed due to civil conflict, is now open and provides a chance to see authentic rural life.
En route, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
On arrival in Jaffna, check in to your hotel. The afternoon is kept free to rest and recover from the journey, or you may take a short stroll in the town to get your first impressions of Jaffna’s unique Tamil culture and atmosphere.

Day 03: Jaffna – Nainativu – Jaffna
After breakfast, set off for a memorable excursion to Nainativu Island (approx. 1 hr to pier + short boat transfer).
Nainativu is one of the most venerated islands in the north, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. Visit the revered Nagapooshani Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati, where striking gopurams (towers) rise high, adorned with colorful sculptures.
Return to Jaffna for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by visits to some of the region’s most iconic landmarks:
- Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil – The most famous Hindu temple in Jaffna, dedicated to Lord Murugan. Known for its towering golden gopuram and sacred rituals, it’s a hub of religious life.
- Nilavarai Bottomless Well – A natural limestone well steeped in legend, believed to be connected underground to Trincomalee. Its water is crystal-clear and never runs dry.
- Keerimalai Naguleswaram Temple & Springs – An ancient Shiva temple near mineral-rich springs, believed to have curative properties.
- Casuarina Beach (Karainagar Island) – End the day with relaxation on one of the finest beaches in northern Sri Lanka, famous for its soft white sand and calm waters.
On completion, return back to the hotel.

Day 04: Jaffna – Dambulla
After breakfast, check out and begin your journey south towards Dambulla (approx. 250 km / 4 hrs 30 minutes). This is a long but scenic drive, showcasing the diversity of Sri Lanka’s landscapes.
Lunch at Miridiya Lake Resort, Anuradhapura
Upon arrival in the Cultural Triangle, prepare to climb the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress (2.5–3 hrs visit).
Built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Asia’s most remarkable landmarks. Climb the stairways past ancient frescoes of the “Cloud Maidens,” walk through the Mirror Wall with centuries-old graffiti, and reach the summit to explore palace ruins and breathtaking panoramic views.
Transfer to your hotel in Sigiriya.

Day 05: Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya
- Royal Palace & Audience Hall – The remains of King Parakramabahu’s palace complex.
- Gal Viharaya – Four remarkable statues of the Buddha carved from a single granite rock, considered masterpieces of Sinhalese stone carving.
- Lotus Bath and other monastic structures.
- Parakrama Samudra – A vast man-made reservoir built in the 12th century, showcasing the advanced irrigation engineering of the time.
Enjoy lunch at an authentic Sri Lankan restaurant overlooking the paddy fields, Priyamali Gedara restaurant.
Later, embark on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park or Eco Park.
The park is renowned for its large elephant gatherings, particularly during the dry season, when hundreds of elephants congregate near the water tank – one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in Asia.
On completion, return back to the hotel.

Day 06: Dambulla – Kandy
After breakfast, check out and visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple (UNESCO). This complex of five caves contains over 150 statues of the Buddha and exquisite wall paintings dating back more than 2,000 years.
Continue south to Kandy (approx. 75 km / 2.5 hrs), stop en route at a Matale Spice Garden where you can see and learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices, their uses in cuisine and Ayurveda.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before arriving in Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka.
After check-in and a short rest, visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, housing Sri Lanka’s most venerated Buddhist relic. Participate in or witness the evening “Pooja” ceremony with drummers, chants, and offerings.
Attend a colorful Kandyan cultural dance show, featuring traditional drumming, dancing, and even firewalking.

Day 07: Kandy – City & Temples
After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Kandy, beginning with a scenic drive around Kandy Lake. Visit the bustling local market, the Arts & Crafts Center, and a Gem Museum & Lapidary, where you can see the island’s precious stones being polished and set.
Lunch at Oak Ray Regency Hotel.
Drive outside the city to visit two significant temples:
- Embekka Devalaya – Renowned for its intricate wooden carvings on pillars, beams, and rafters, depicting dancers, wrestlers, and mythical animals.
- Lankathilaka Viharaya – Built on a rock outcrop in the 14th century, this temple combines Sinhalese and Dravidian architectural styles.
On completion return to the hotel.
Overnight Stay at Kandy Myst by Cinnamon Hotel, Kandy.
Day 08: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast and check-out, begin a scenic drive into the central highlands towards Nuwara Eliya (approx. 90 km / 3 hrs). En route, stop to visit the Sri Bhaktha Hanuman Temple at Ramboda, associated with the Ramayana epic. Nearby, admire the cascading Ramboda Falls.
Lunch at Ramboda falls hotel.
Continue to a tea plantation and factory, where you will see the full process of tea-making, from plucking the leaves to producing the final cup. Enjoy a tasting of freshly brewed Ceylon Tea.
Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, nicknamed “Little England” for its colonial charm. After lunch at a local restaurant and hotel check-in, explore:
- Seetha Amman Temple – Linked to the Ramayana story of Sita’s captivity.
- Hakgala Botanical Gardens – Home to a wide range of exotic flora and temperate-climate plants.
- A short city tour of Nuwara Eliya, including the Tudor-style post office and neatly kept gardens that reflect its colonial legacy.
Day 09: Nuwara Eliya – Galle – Bentota
Early breakfast and check out. Today’s journey takes you from the hills to the coast, driving south to Galle (approx. 6.5 hrs / 250 km).
Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at Oak ray anchorage restaurant, Galle
Afterwards, take a guided walking tour of the Galle Fort (UNESCO), built by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century. Walk along its ramparts, visit the iconic Galle Lighthouse, and explore cobbled streets lined with boutiques, art galleries, and cafes. You may also see local lace makers and woodcarvers at work.
Continue along the coast to Bentota (approx. 1.5 hrs.) On arrival, check in at your hotel.
Overnight Stay at The Golden Ridge Hotel, Nuwara Eliya
Day 10–13: Bentota (Leisure)
Enjoy leisurely days in Bentota, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful beach resorts. Relax on the golden sands, swim in the warm Indian Ocean, or simply enjoy the facilities of your luxury hotel. These days are at complete leisure with no guide or transport services. (Lunch will be served at the hotel)

Day 14: Bentota – Colombo – Departure
After your final breakfast, check out and drive to Colombo (approx. 65 km / 1.5 hrs).
Enjoy a city tour that blends colonial charm with modern development – see the historic buildings of Fort, shop in the lively Pettah Bazaar, and pass by landmarks such as the Old Parliament, Independence Square, and the modern skyline.
Lunch at Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Colombo
Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure flight EK655 at 21:50 hrs, carrying cherished memories of your Sri Lankan adventure.
