Day 1 : Arrival in Colombo – Transfer to Dambulla / Sigiriya

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport. Meet and greet by your Italian-speaking National Guide.

Transfer to the Cultural Triangle (approx. 3.5 – 4 hours). Along the way, observe rural villages, coconut plantations and rice fields.

Optional afternoon: Village experience including tuk tuk ride, bullock cart ride and catamaran boat trip on a village lake.

Dinner and overnight stay in Dambulla / Sigiriya.

After breakfast, climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa. Walk past the famous frescoes of the “Sigiriya Maidens,” the Mirror Wall and the Lion’s Paw entrance before reaching the summit.

In the afternoon, visit the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. Explore:

  • Royal Palace ruins
  • Gal Viharaya rock-carved Buddha statues
  • Lotus Bath
  • Parakrama Samudraya reservoir


Return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple (UNESCO), a complex of five caves with over 150 Buddha statues and ancient wall paintings.

Continue to Kandy with a stop at a Spice Garden in Matale, where you will learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices and Ayurvedic uses.

Arrive in Kandy and visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the most important Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.

After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, known for orchids, palm avenues and tropical flora. Continue to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage or Millennium Elephant Foundation to observe elephants in a protected environment. Return to Kandy for city tour including:

Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
After breakfast, drive through the scenic central highlands to Nuwara Eliya. En route visit a tea plantation and factory to learn about Ceylon tea production and enjoy a tea tasting session. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, known as “Little England,” famous for colonial architecture and cool climate. Short city tour including:

Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
After breakfast, drive towards the southern plains. Stop in Ella for panoramic views and visit Ravana Falls. Continue to Yala or Udawalawe for an afternoon Jeep Safari in the National Park. Possible sightings:
  • Elephants
  • Leopards (in Yala)
  • Crocodiles
  • Peacocks
  • Water buffalo
Dinner and overnight stay near the park.

After breakfast, drive towards the southern coast.

Visit Galle Fort (UNESCO), built by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch. Walk along the ramparts, lighthouse and colonial streets.

Continue to your beach hotel in Bentota / Beruwela / South Coast.

Dinner and overnight stay at beach resort.

After breakfast, drive towards the southern coast.
