Day 1 : Arrival in Colombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Italian-speaking National Guide who will accompany you throughout the journey.

Transfer to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s commercial capital, a vibrant mix of colonial heritage, modern development and local daily life. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a guided orientation tour including:

After breakfast, depart for Anuradhapura, the first great capital of ancient Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Anuradhapura was the political and spiritual center of the island for over 1,300 years. During your guided visit, you will explore:

  • The sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, grown from the original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment
  • Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, one of the most impressive monuments in Sri Lanka

After breakfast, travel north to Jaffna, the cultural heart of Northern Sri Lanka.

The landscape gradually changes, reflecting a different climate and Tamil cultural influence. In Jaffna, you will discover:

  • Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, one of the most important Hindu temples in Sri Lanka

Today is dedicated to exploring the northern peninsula in greater depth.

  • Nainativu (Nagadeepa Island), sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus

After breakfast, drive south toward the Cultural Triangle. The journey passes through rural landscapes, villages and farming communities. Optional afternoon village experience near Sigiriya, including:

Early morning climb of the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa, this impressive rock citadel rises nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains. During the ascent you will see:

  • Lion’s Paw entrance
  • Ruins of the royal palace at the summit


In the afternoon, visit Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital known for its refined architecture and impressive Buddha statues carved directly into granite at Gal Viharaya.

Visit Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five caves filled with Buddha statues and ancient paintings dating back over 2,000 years.

Continue to Kandy via Matale, stopping at a spice garden to learn about cinnamon, cardamom, pepper and Ayurvedic traditions.

In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist site.
