Important Travel Information for Visiting Sri Lanka
Planning a journey to Sri Lanka requires understanding visa requirements, seasonal weather patterns, cultural customs, and practical travel advice.
Star Gate Travels is led by a licensed Sri Lanka National Guide registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). Based on years of guiding experience, we provide accurate and updated travel information to help you prepare for your visit.
This guide covers the most important information international travelers should know before arriving in Sri Lanka.
Visa Requirements for Sri Lanka
Most travelers visiting Sri Lanka require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to arrival. The ETA application is completed online through the official Sri Lankan government portal, with approval typically granted within a few days. Tourist visas are usually valid for 30 days, passports must be valid for at least 6 months, and a return or onward ticket may be required; proof of accommodation may also be requested. We recommend applying through the official government website to avoid unnecessary service charges.
